Cowpath Road in Hatfield is now reopened.

Earlier Story

South Main Street/Cowpath Road in Hatfield Borough is temporarily closed between Vine Street and Orvilla Road due to a gas main break that occurred around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The gas main became displaced after a subcontractor snagged the line while repaving the street for North Penn Water Authority, according to Dan Sokil of The Reporter.

Hatfield Township released a statement that it is unknown how long repairs will take, and roads were completely closed during rush hour.

Sokil tweeted that the leak occurred on the 500 block of Cowpath Road.

Gas service was shut off to at least one home, Sokil reported. If not repaired by the evening, Hatfield Borough will make accommodations.
