Instant Drug Test Detects Synthetic Weed

Mobile Drug Testing, LLC, has engineered a new instant drug test that can detect two popular types of synthetic marijuana

For those who thought they could skirt a positive drug test by using synthetic marijuana:  Think again.

Mobile Drug Testing, LLC, has developed an instant-response drug test that can detect the use of two different types of synthetic marijuana, commonly referred to by the brand names "Spice" and "K2".

“We are very excited to offer this cutting edge technology as a new way for parents and employers to maintain a drug-free environment," said Peter Kligmann, a chemist with MDT.  "It doesn’t matter what the drug-using population throws at us.  We are determined in finding a way to combat it.”

The company says the new test is a "dramatic improvement" over the lab's previous testing procedures, which was far more expensive and would require two days for testing.

MDT adds that the new instant-response test can easily be employed and performed anywhere from a private residence to full-scale workplace drug testing, and the test can be purchased by parents for home use or by individuals for self-testing.

“We are at the forefront in the latest technology to protect our clients and to protect the kids of America," said Kligmann.  "This is what matters most.”

Many of the chemical compounds found in synthetic marijuana and other products--such as bath salts--have  already been deemed illegal in Pennsylvania through the passing of SB 1006, but with laws differing from state to state, portals to acquire synthetic marijuana remain open.
