Jet Plastica Closing in June

The plastics manufactuer has run out of money and needs a buyer

Jet Plastica, a plastics manufacturer that dates its roots back to 1947, will close for good by the summer.

About 363 people will be out of a job, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry WARN notice.

Jet Plastica is located at 1100 Schwab Road in Hatfield Township.

The company began as two separate entities.

According to www.Jetplastica.com, Plastica Company Inc., was founded in North Wales in 1947 and manufactured plastic spoons, forks and knives.

Jet Container Corporation was founded in Lowell, MA in 1962 and manufactured plastic cups.

Plastica purchased Jet Container in 1982 and moved to Hatfield.

Dennis Gerrard, interim president of Jet Plastica, said in a The Reporter article that the company has been operating at a loss for more than five months. The company went up for sale in November 2011.

“We’re just frankly out of money. We can’t go forward without a buyer,” he told The Reporter.

Also affected in the closure is its manufacturing facility in Fowler, CA.

Nope sorry ace Jet Plastica was brought down by an incompetant management team that was brought in a couple years ago. After they ran their previous company out of business they continued with their ways and did the same with Jet.
