Kulpsville Welcome Sign in the Works

Towamencin Township supervisors discussed installing a welcome sign near the Lansdale Interchange of the Northeast Extension at an October meeting

There are talks of installing a welcome sign in Towamencin near the Lansdale Interchange, according to reports.

Bradley Schlegel of The Reporter wrote that the idea was discussed by supervisors at an Oct. 10 meeting.

A design has not begun, and everything is in the planning stages, according to the article.

Discussions come at a time when a 6-mile expansion of the Northeast Extension between Mid-County and Berks Road wraps up in 2014, according to the article. Then, work repeats for two more years, from Berks Road to Lansdale Interchange, in mid-2014.

It always has been the Lansdale exit. Get over it.

Kulpsville is the name of the town ... it certainly isn't LANSDALE! I get delivery companies heading to the wrong street in Towamencin (same street name as mine). Heck, why not call it Philadelphia exit?

What a waste of taxpayers money! Everyone from out of town knows it as the lansdale exit! this is going to cause confusion and possible accidents from people realizing at the last minute, that this is the exit they want. There are numerous signs along the turnpike that list the closest larger city as the exit name, not the township it is located in!!!

The welcome sign would not be located the exit, but rather near the Interchange

Years ago, there used to be a Welcome to Towamencin Township sign, right as you got off the turnpike. I think I remember reading that it was stolen and never recovered.

Is this coming from the same group that gave us a (still) largely empty office building and a bridge to nowhere? Do they sit around trying to find more ways to waste taxpayers' money?
