North Wales Residents, Business Owners Voice Support of Hackert
Residents and business owners Tuesday night told North Wales Borough council why they support and appreciate suspended police Chief Barry Hackert
While North Wales Chief Barry Hackert remains on suspension — the reason not disclosed by the borough — residents, business owners and local organizations expressed their support of him to North Wales Borough Council Tuesday night.
In a report by Bradley Schlegel of The Reporter, seven people showed up at the meeting to voice how much Hackert means to them.
Resident Donna Mengel said, “I hope nothing untoward happens” to Hackert, according to the article. “Barry has become … a very good chief over his 21 years of service.”
Another resident, Richard Tibberino, told council Hackert helped his son find a job. Another resident said he could “count on Barry to handle” a problem, according to the article.
Resident Herb Thomas told council to avoid a lawsuit that would “cost us money galore,” according to the article. “We haven’t one (a lawsuit) yet.”
Thomas said, according to Schlegel, that council should stop pursuing the matter, as Hackert did not violate any local, state or federal laws as per his letter of condition of return in 2009, following a six-month administrative leave.
Council President Mike McDonald told the audience that Hackert “deserves respect”
After Tuesday’s meeting, council held an executive session about Hackert, and Hackert was present, Schelgel reported.
Schelgel reported that Hackert was involved in an alleged assault at Split Rock Resort in the Poconos on Dec. 30, 2012. Hackert allegedly struck the head of a security guard at the resort.
No criminal charges will be filed against Hackert, due to the alleged victim not pressing charges, according to the article.

Barry Hackert is the best chief nwpd had for a long time!!!!!!!!!!! Council, Bring him back! He did'nt break any laws and to remind all of you behind that badge is also a person that has feelings and emotions and it shows as he takes care of everyone in North Wales! Also council is there anything that you have done in the past to have you removed from office if people found out ?

borough of northwales needs to release this man he is danger to borough and people of northwales, he gives police a bad name , and if the borough keeps him iam rest asure there will be lawsuits and protest going on , no police chief should be doing what he is drunk 2008 and charged??? in telford ? now in spilt rock hitting man ?? pfa from abuse?? and was giving a chance and guest what you thought he was better then the rest and could get away with it ?? he was caught? we dont need our kids to see and hear about police chief doing what he did and got away with it , no other borough or city would allow this man to carry a gun acting out like this what is next??? lets get more goverment and news people into this matter and get rid of him now , he is unsafe and would not want him protecting my family at all and giving police of pa a bed name fire him fire him , walking paers now

Wow finally a voice of reason!! I'm impressed!
Maybe people need to hear the REAL STORY not what he wants everyone to believe! As for council I hope they are not keeping him because of a possible lawsuit.
Should someone who is like this really be in charge?? What about the lawsuits & such that will be coming if he stays in his postion. Every person would & could question him, his motives, his actions. Get ready for that storm!
if this was the average joe, we would have been arrested, charged and awaiting our trial date. But because he is police chief he has allowances. No I believe he should be a model citizen and uphold the law. Not see which laws we can get away with. Someone needs to do something with this person. I don't want him protecting me and my children. He's an embarassment to himself, his family & to North Wales!

Definatly fire this goon. He is crooked as hell. If this was a, typical citizen with a clean record they would still be prosecuted! Thats unfair. But besides unfair its a danger. Lets give a tempered man who drinks and drives, assaults people and lies a gun and make him in charge! I agree people should protest and let the media exploit him the way he does to everyone he crosses paths with. Terry should be chief, at least he had integrity! Do a criminal background check on this man and then tell me you should have him on duty. Of 3000 residents only 7 appeared on his behalf. Assault is enough grounds to lose your weapons! And they want to prevent gun crimes? Heres a tip... Start with him now before he does the worst!

well northwales police cheif took the leave wish they would of fire this no good person. now what all the people that stood up for this so call police chief, now going to leave the town?? bye best of luck, start packing , not one person will even miss you . all the 3 business owners start packing also because no one will miss you either , the whole northwales police department needs a new chief that wants and will follow tha laws and orth that he took when taking the job, because most of the ones we have now are just here for pay check only, will not up hold any laws. maybe the town would be better off to hire the stae police , to do our town , save us money and help fight the laws , not break them and some get away with it, ,borough manger , please take him with you , he is waste of our tax money and should be fired as well, , where is a code guys, thats right , waste our tax money and send police officers out at 7 at night? why is that? , beware of manger he is just as much like police chief, sly and sneakey, dont trust this man , lets fight and get some new faces on board, and keep northwales safe and better place, and what happen to main street homes people changing there out side homes? all with out permit ? wow must be nice to do that ? keep up the good work manger ? you will be next to go . hire the new police chief out side of our police department , we will all be better off, or get the state in here
