At least one person was flown by MidAtlantic MedEvac after suffering injuries in a reported hit-and-run accident at Harleysville Pike/Route 113 and Allentown Road in Franconia Township Sunday afternoon, according to Breaking News Network reports.
MidAtlantic is a joint air medical transport program operated by Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety Active Incident report, a report was received at 3:39 p.m. by 9-1-1 of a Ford Ranger sitting in the intersection of Allentown Road and Harleysville Pike. Reports stated that "the vehicle was all over the roadway."
According to reports from Breaking News Network, several callers reported the vehicle as driving recklessly. The driver of the Ford Ranger crashed into several vehicles and the Univest Bank.
BNN reported the driver could have a diabetic problem.
There were no reports of a second vehicle, although it was reported as a hit-and-run.
Perseverance Fire Co. of Souderton's battalion chief and chief both arrived at the scene at 3:49 p.m. The company's Rescue 74 unit arrived at 3:54 p.m. Both engines from Perseverance arrived around 6 p.m. Fire police arrived on scene at 3:54 p.m.
According to BNN, Souderton Community Ambulance reported the driver suffered a chest injury, which required decompression and rapid sequence intubation of the trachea.
