Montgomery Township Police said a Philadelphia man allegedly robbed two businesses in two days in the township, stole a luxury SUV and led them on a high-speed chase Tuesday before being arrested and incarcerated.
Jason Justice, of Philadelphia, has been charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, police said.
Justice was arraigned before District Judge Francis Lawrence. Justice was incarcerated at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail, police said.
On Thursday, May 24, Montgomery Township Police investigated the theft of about 60 feet of copper wire from a warehouse at BSI Electric on Stump Road.
Employees told police they saw a man leave the business driving a dark blue Lexus RX300 with Pennsylvania registration GLZ-6300.
Police determined that the Lexus had been reported stolen from a business in Upper Moreland Township, police said.
On Friday, May 25, police investigated the theft of a Toro power washer from a vehicle at Natural Lawn of America on Corporate Drive. Surveillance video from inside the business captured a man opening the rear doors of a company vehicle and removing the power washer, police said.
The man left the business in a dark blue Lexus RX300 with the same registration as the May 24 incident.
On Tuesday, township police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle at Coastal Tech on Keystone Drive, police said.
An employee saw a dark blue Lexus in the parking lot, police said.
Officers found and stopped the vehicle at Welsh Road and Keystone Drive. As officers ordered the driver to exit the SUV, the driver pulled away on Welsh Road at a high rate of speed, police said.
Police found the vehicle abandoned behind a business on Bethlehem Pike.
Justice was arrested after he was captured in a construction site, which he ran into from a wooded area, police said.
