Police: Woman Planned to Flee to South Carolina Before Arrest

Stephanie M. Virgilio, 31, of West Main Street, allegedly planned to abscond from Pennsylvania to avoid a county bench warrant

Police nabbed a Lansdale woman Feb. 9 who they say was planning on absconding to South Carolina to avoid a county bench warrant.

Stephanie M. Virgilio, 31, of an apartment on the 1100 block of West Main Street, was arrested on the warrant at around 10 a.m. Feb. 9, police said. She was later released to Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

Lansdale Police said they were notified the morning of Feb. 9 that Virgilio had a county bench warrant and she was planning to travel to South Carolina with her children on that same day.

"When I get to South Carolina, I'm going to kiss the ground," the female said, according to police. "I'm never coming back to Pennsylvania and will never see the inside of a Pennsylvania jail."

Virgilio was found inside the apartment and subsequently arrested, police said.

Virgilio has three closed criminal cases, and two closed traffic violations, at the district court level, according to Pennsylvania documents.

The most recent action at the county level occurred in October 2008, when Virgilio was awaiting a pre-trial conference. She was facing charges of simple assault and harassment for an incident in Abington in September 2007.

Virgilio's previous address was at an apartment on the 1500 block of Easton Road in Rosyln, according to county records.

According to county records, Virgilio was hit with a bail forfeiture in August 2008 and again in October 2008.

A bench warrant was issued in October 2008, and served on Feb. 9, 2012. Bail was reset at $2,000 unsecured.

According to Montgomery County Correctional Facility records, Virgilio posted bail on Feb. 10 and was released on her own recognizance.
