Rep. Schwartz Talks Medicare in DNC Address
Allyson Schwartz helped represent the Democratic women of the U.S. House
U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz (D-13) briefly addressed the Democratic National Convention last night, as part of a group of current and hopeful Democratic congresswoman.
Schwartz appeared alongside minority leader Nany Pelosi (D-CA), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and seven others, as they took turns sharing their perspectives on different issues, particularly in regards to women. Schwartz used her turn to speak about Medicare, something she says she is familiar with after caring for an elderly parent.
"Moving America forward means never going backward on America's great promise of healthcare for our seniors: Medicare," Schwartz said. "We will not let the Republicans end the guarantee of Medicare, which will cost seniors thousands of dollars and endanger the health and retirement security of millions of Americans."

I’m Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz of Pennsylvania. Moving America forward means never going backward on America’s great promise of health care for our seniors: Medicare. As a daughter who cared for an elderly parent, I know medical care is not optional for seniors. We will not let the Republicans end the guarantee of Medicare, which could cost seniors thousands and endanger the health and retirement security of millions of Americans.
Americans have worked for their Medicare. They have paid for their Medicare. Whether you’re 65, 55, 45 or 35, you’ve earned your Medicare. Americans deserve the security Medicare provides. President Obama will strengthen and protect Medicare. Democrats will make the tough choices—the right choices—to reduce the deficit and to preserve Medicare, for this generation and the next. The Democratic women of the House know that a secure retirement moves America forward.

If you are 65,55,45 or 30 We have paid for medicare, this is true, but why are we still paying for it every month? Really we work and pay into this all our working lives, then when we need it, we pay more for it then if we go out and get our own private Insurance and would get better benifits. This is not a good thing for anyone on Medicare. Just my thoughts,

LOL....Ruth ya gotta love an intellect that rebuffs your posting with rhetoric and without facts or information....And Ruth, for the record, I paid for my own insurances for 15 years....with out a college degree and without a wife that got insurance because she was a teacher or a government worker....real workers and small business owners understand the idea of earnings and debt and managing your money....as for Schwartz, she has been on the government dole for 27 years, while her Doctor husband has bled the government dry....

I have been listening to all the back and forth about Medicare and I have a serious problem not with Medicare but with my supplemental insurance company. For years I had Blue Cross and Blue Shield for which I paid over $400.00 per month. When I went on Medicare my premium for Blue Cross and Blue Shield stayed at $400.00 although now they were only paying 20 % of my medical cost because I had Medicare. I have since switched to a cheaper plan and just received a bill for which Medicare paid $1,338.00 and my insurance company paid $38.28. Now tell me how unfair that is. I pay more to my insurance company then Medicare and they only paid $38.28.
Many Medicare patients have supplemental insurance for which they pay good money, however those companies are not obligated to pay their fair share of our medical bills, although they certainly charge us full price.

Ms. Schwartz is one of the principal social engineers who is driving GP's and internists to retire and leave early because of the bureaucracy, higher malpractice risk and Hippocratic oath violations she created.She must have known that America will be 120,000 general doctors and nurse practitioners short by 2020, even before Obamacare but she must not have cared that there will be no doctors.
She also is guaranteeing that the Catholic Church's, immense investment in education and caring for the sick and the poor will be abandoned forever after the one year extension expires , due to their sincere religious beliefs not being in accord with what she and other Democrats wrote into the Obamacare law.
As a doctor, I can say for whatever good she may have created there will also be many neglected deaths and social wreckage she will have to account for.
That is a couple reasons, among others,why she should not be re-elected to Congress from the 13th District. In my opinion, her vision is too limited and she lacks mature balanced long-term judgement.
