Sellersville Blinded By Science

Thomas Dolby and his Time Machine appeared at the theater Wednesday

In 1,000 years, whoever is on this Earth will know about Thomas Dolby.

The innovative 1980s New Wave singer appeared at Sellersville Theater Wednesday as part of his Time Capsule Tour 2012.

Some three decades later, Dolby continues to impress his fans and the public alike with creativity.

What caught the eye of fans and passersby was the chrome and brass-plated, Victorian steampunk trailer outside the theater.

This was the Time Capsule.

Inside the capsule are handcrafted leather and wood fittings, gears and gauges, microphones and video screens and plaques asking questions like "What Will Life Be Like in the Year 2112?" "What Music From Today Should be Remembered 1,000 Years From Now?" and "What Do You Want Your Great Grandchildren to Know About You?"

The machine certainly looks like it came out of the pages of an H.G. Wells novel, according to Dolby's YouTube page.

While it cannot transport to another time and place, the Time Capsule does capture a moment in history - a 30-second recording from a music fan or guest artist for the future.

The trailer is fitted with a high-tech video recording suite. The messages will be saved into an actual time capsule and buried for future generations to discover.

The clips are viewable on YouTube. The most-viewed clips will win prizes.

The Time Capsule was hitched to the back of another spage-agey vehicle - a Tesla Roadster, owned and driven by Michael Thwaite of Warren, N.J.

The Tesla is electric, but it is very expensive, contesting Porsche 911s and Ferraris in price and speed.
