Thousands Brave Lines, Cold to Cheer Romney

With the election less than 48 hours away, Romney’s visit to Shady Brook Farm is one indication the campaign believes Pennsylvania is in play.

Thousands of supporters braved long lines and cold temperatures to attend Mitt Romney’s rally at Shady Brook Farm Sunday night.

With the election less than 48 hours away, Romney’s stop in Bucks County is one indication the campaign feels the Keystone State, with its 20 electoral votes, is in play.

An estimated 25,000 people showed up to support the former Massachusetts governor, who told an enthusiastic crowd, “we’re taking back the White House because we’re going to win Pennsylvania.”

The large crowd began forming hours before Romney arrived. Lines to get through security stretched from the farm to the Newtown Bypass for several hours leading up to the event.

Supporters, some holding signs and flags, bundled up to endure temperatures in the low 40s and a chilling wind. The rally began at 5 p.m. with words from Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley, U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick and Tom Smith, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

The Marshall Tucker Band then took the stage, playing three songs. The band finished up the performance with their classic rock hit “Can’t You See,” substituting lyrics to reference President Obama.

Sen. Pat Toomey then took the stage, telling supporters “we’re freezin’ for a reason. We’re here to welcome the next president of the United States.”

Gov. Tom Corbett introduced Romney, who came straight from a rally in Cleveland, Ohio. Corbett garnered loud cheers when he told the crowd, "Pennsylvania is in play.”

Shortly after, Romney’s bus rolled up to a roaring crowd. “You’re here because you care about America,” he said. Romney said his record of achievement puts him in the position to be a successful leader for the country.

“Talk is cheap. Change can’t be measured in speeches, it’s measured in achievements,” the candidate said.

Romney criticized Obama for squeezing the middle class, saying his policies have hurt the economy.

“The president thinks more government is the answer. No, Mr. President, more jobs is the answer,” Romney said.

Romney said his plan for America includes taking advantage of domestic energy resources, including the approval of the controversial Keystone Pipeline, tackling “out of control” spending and supporting small businesses.

Romney said he’s confident Pennsylvania will go red this election. “These last few months of this campaign have gathered the strength of a movement,” he said.

The candidate spoke for about 25 minutes. The rally concluded around 7:15 p.m. Romney was scheduled to head to Virginia for a final rally of the day in Newport News.

Obama, meanwhile, visited Ohio, Florida, New Hampshire and Colorado Sunday in his final push before Election Day.

A Republican hasn't won Pennsylvania in the presidential election since George H.W. Bush's 1988 victory. The Real Clear Politics polling average as of Sunday night has Obama with a four-point edge over Romney.

NO, THANK YOU!

I don’t want Romney’s version of change including:

• A severely conservative Supreme Court.

• Tax and jobs plan that doesn’t make mathematical sense as most experts say.

• 1% percent control of the nation,

• Leader who says “corporations are people”, and puts the needs of corporations
before the people.

• Higher taxes for middle class and lower taxes for the rich.

• Medicare taken bankrupt in 2016, as reports indicate,

• Overturn of Roe vs Wade and return women’s rights to the 1950s,

• Leader who condemns 47 percent of Americans.

• Leader with hot temper and controlling demeanor who is eager to start war against Iran.

I’m very pleased to stay with reliable, proven Obama-Biden who are taking America FORWARD - not back to the Bush years!

Please, Doreen... Your commentary only makes you appear ignorant... If Romney was only about himself, he would have stayed at Bain Capital, where it's estimated he would now be worth well over 1 billion... He's not worth anywhere near that now, albeit still rich... As are the Obama's, Clinton's, Kerry's, etc... Yet none of you hypocrites say anything about the wealth of those in the DNC...
As for the "real deal" it's certainly not Obama:

Mitt Romney, is absolutely a man with a deep love for this country, and personal & professional integrity.
It's obvious this man has the leadership skills, intelligence and the record of creating and sharing his success with our nation that desperately needs him to serve now.
The crowd at Shady Brook Farms was over 30,000 people. The masses were able to drive in, park, get through security and wait patiently for the event to begin as "one huge family". Hours on line to park, to get in, then hours of waiting for the event to begin; we heard NOT ONE negative word, NOT ONE divisive word, NOT ONE altercation between men! True country-man!
The air was thick with brotherhood, patriotism, unity, inclusion and community. Fantastic Event!
Let's win PA for Romney!

I marveled seeing folks get out of their cars and proceed to walk a distance equivalent to several blocks to take their place at the back of the line. Decency means something, or at least it used to...There are tweets which threaten violence and riots should Romney win tomorrow. Why is that? There is such a deep divide in this country right now which is fostered from the top. This is a sad commentary regarding the original prospects for this presidency.

Hi, OMG. When I saw your pseudonym, I thought you were a Romney supporter. There are bumper stickers with "OMG" - "Obama must go". :-) You need to do some reading instead of relying on cable news. There has been no mention of stopping the food stamp program. Food stamps were never meant to be a mainstay of folks' nutritional budget. The program should be for those it is intended - those who would go hungry if not for this government help That number is no doubt considerably less than the 42 million who are on the program now. Not one of the candidates has intimated that contraception should not be available. The actual issue is that there is no reason why the rest of us need to pay for either through the Accountable Care Act or via our tax dollars that go to Planned Parenthood.

If Obama leads Romney by 3% in most PA polls, this means tomorrow Romney will win by 4%.

Jack, I see you still continue to lie and mislead. I pointed this out to you the other day and I'll share it with everyone again today...

While it is associated with GWU, CMPA is primarily funded by conservative sources and it's president, S. Robert Lichter, is a paid contributor to Fox News.

Specifically more than 80% of CMPA's funding comes from the John M. Olin Foundation, the Scaife Foundations and the Smith Richardson Foundation. These three foundations are also major contributors to right wing think tanks/propaganda machines like the American Enterprise Institute, the Heritage Foundation, the Project for the New American Century and the Hudson Institute.

CMPA is far from an objective voice.

It's run by a university, and the university took such offense at this attack by libs that they published all of their donor data. The split between donor sources that are liberal and conservative is about even.

Keep spinnin not diggin, Abraham.

Jack, CMPA may have received more contributions from non-conservative group early in its existence, but in recent years, it has been funded almost exclusively by very conservative sources.

Their press release from July 2009 lists "19 non-conservative funders who together accounted for $1,766,500 in contributions to CMPA over the past fifteen years." Yet, less than $200K of that total was contributed to CMPA after 2003. Furthermore, contributors to CMPA in recent years were redacted from their form 990.

Jack, you are wrong again. CMPA is not "run by a university." From the same 2009 press release - "CMPA is a non-profit, non-partisan research organization which is affiliated with George Mason University." And, it was CMPA that issues the press release, not the university.

Face it Jack, your source is a right wing spin machine.

Abraham, CMPA takes its funding from conservative and liberal sources, and the founder himself is conservative. But it IS inside a university tapping students to do the research, conducting scientific studies which are no less scientific if conducted by liberal or conservative scientists. They debunked Poltifact and Factcheck. They counted the mistakes. They quantified jokes about Romney are outnumbering jokes about Obama by a margin of more than 2 to 1. Between Aug. 27 to Oct. 3, 2012, when researchers also catalogued the political punch lines of Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, and Craig Ferguson—428 jokes in all—Letterman was by far the biggest Romney mocker compared with his relatively gentle treatment of Obama. The CMPA has delivered up facts and published their studies. These are not conservative opinion pieces as much as you wish they were. You cannot find any other source to debunk their results, so, what do you do? Attack them. Attack me. Spin spin spin into Tuesday....

Read the writing on the wall.

Yes, there is plenty on enthusiasm on both sides - 25,000 show up in PA for Romney, but Obama had crowds of 23,000 and 25,000 in VA and FL over the weekend and he had the largest crowd ever to show up for a political rally in the history of NH.

But, listen to what is being said. The Romney/Ryan ticket is grasping at anything they think will turn any undecided voters. Romney is trying to take advantage of Obama's throw away "revenge" comment. Ryan said yesterday that Obama threatens our "Judeo-Christian western civilization values."

Why don't these guys just come right out and say Obama is the "angry black man" or "he's a Muslim" ? John Sunnunu calls Obama "lazy" - read the stereotype "lazy black man" and later says Colin Powell is only endorsing him because he is black Sarah Palin talks about Obama's "shuck and jive." Trump, Hannity and Coulter have all made comments on Obama's race or intelligence that are even worse.

The racial attacks are a sign of the right's dire desperation.

Even more telling, listen to the Repub pundits over the past couple of days. Prominent Repub talkers like Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie and Haley Barbour all made comments on Sunday on how Sandy has helped Obama. They started laying the groundwork for their excuses of why they lost.

Why should anyone want to work if the "government" gives them everything? Don't forget, the government generates no money. It only has what the taxpayers pay them and this is one taxpayer who's tired of giving too many people a free ride! I've had a job since I was 15 years old. @Rae - good for you & I also have always worked. BUT, the people that need help should not be refused. It is not the people but the SYSTEM that needs to be fixed. Millions of Americans need help by way of pensions, retirement plans, food stamps, welfare, Meals on Wheels and other programs. You should not remove these from people who NEED THEM. The system needs to be revamped and updated by hiring people to go one on one and remove those that take advantage.

Not everyone that takes aid from the government is selling drugs or lazy. We need to help those that need it and drop those that don't.

As Ghandi stated - "You can judge a society by how they treat their weakest members."

Many people need help & many people deserve what they get.

Rae baby, I work and always kept a job or two because I like money and I like to spend and I have my own home and my own car so the only thing my hand is out for is my next working paycheck. I am speaking for probably a member or members of your family who has their hand out for something free from the Government.

Sounds just like the Kids in Doylestown on a Friday night.Who do you think is buying the drugs. It sure is not just the people you described. Take a look around you. There is a drug Epidemic in this country in the cities, and more particular in the suburbs. And if you think that there is no one in the suburbs that is receiving hand outs that you just spoke of. Then you are out of touch with reality. And with that being said. What do you think Senate and Congress do all day? Someone has to have BIG money to get the drug here. To much corruption in the world today. And it is much easier to blame the inner cities.

Abraham, writing on the wall may be your Senator Harry Reid coming unhinged Thursday, stating he will never work with Romney on his Tea Party conservative agenda, never! Ever! I wonder what wall he's reading.

More writing: Gallup just completed a definitive study of polls which are changing daily and jumping all over the place, comparing past data, voter turnout, early voting, registrations, cell phones vs landlines, etc. The conclusion is that polls undersample Republicans by 4%, oversample Democrats by 3%. Which means in closely polling swing states, Romney will win by 3-5 points.

I sense desperation, yes. But not from us right wing nuts. I sense we're feeling pretty groovy.

Yea, Yea, Yea. We'll see how groovy you feel on Wednesday morning. If Romney wins - and honestly there is a possibility that can happen - it will be a sad day for the USA. We will have elected a spineless puppet of the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove and the neo cons.

Jack, Reid's reading from the gop playbook. There's no-way pubs are going to get 14 seats(real majority) in the senate. If Romney wins, dems should filibust almost all legislation. Shut down Washington. If it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander.

The key word here is "if" and the side show last night was an a*s kiss fest and nothing more. The first thing you can count on for certain is everything you are hearing about the economy is a fabrication. The second thing you can count on for certain is the denial of equal rights for same sex couples, the denial of a woman's right to choose and the decimation of public education. Now go vote.

There's also an IQ breakdown. People with IQ ratios above 120. 74-26 dem

Another reason to vote for Romney the Howard Stern interviews with people, who don't even know Osma Bin Laden was killed but still think Obama is going to get him. They aren't voting for Obama based on his record at all. They want the free phones.

Once and for all Obama is not black. His mother was white. In many cultures and religions, you are what your mother is. So how can the racism card apply? Obama broke all his campaing promises including to do more for the protection of animals. Yet, he signed legislation allowing horses to be slaughtered on American soil again and wolves are being destroyed in record numbers. I fight for animal rights as well as human rights. "I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other ... And it's very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetrated on animals ..."~Barack Obama LIAR.

Yep that's right! By pulling America back from the brink of what would have been a horrific depression, with the steady growth in private sector jobs, the auto industry recovery, housing market coming back, and more people able to afford health insurance, as well as the turn-around in the stock market and our portfolios, many Americans are no longer feeling like we have to worry about making our payments.

President Obama working for all American's and not afraid to call out the big boys on Wall Street or the corporate tax dodgers.

Mitt Romney working for making sure that only a few will be able to obtain the American dream and has already turned his foreign policy over to the Neo-Conservatives who lied us into attacking Iraq.

Yes, I went to college and it was the first place I learned that over 600,000 Irish men, women and children were sold into slavery in the USA and West Indies. They were cheaper, easier to get and treated far worse than the black slave. I also learned that Irish women were forced to mate with black slaves in order to produce a lighter house slave. The Irish were thought of as apes and discriminated against for over a hundred years. So you may have some Irish blood in you. I think his mother would have wanted him to embrace his white and Irish heritage. In Ireland he said he was going to restore the apostrophe back in Obama.

It is impressive that Democrats want to attack, attack, attack, rather than say anything good Obama has accomplished in last 4 years, Oh yea I forgot he hasn't accomplished much to talk positively about. Talk about ripping the country apart, You did not hear Romney say anything personal about Obama, he didn't even mention how he sat on his hands while Americans were killed in Benghazi, (which we will hear about a lot after the election). We have never had a more Partisan President! TIME FOR A CHANGE! Great group of people out there last night i am proud to be associated with them.

I am really curious why everyone refers to Obama as a black president, isn't he half white? Not that it matters to me at all. I don't care what color anyone is, but how can you claim to be such a respecter of woman when you don't even respect your own mother enough to embrace the contribution she made toward your creation???
