Toddler Attacked by Dog at West Rockhill Park

James Heller, 15 months old, was attacked by a black Lab mix, which has not been found. The boy was readmitted to Grand View Hospital Tuesday due to infected wounds and might need plastic surgery

A 15-month-old boy from West Rockhill Township must undergo rabies shots and underwent treatment for infected wounds on his face following an attack on Saturday by a Black Labrador mix at James Memorial Park.

According to NBC10, James Heller was playing with his mother and her fiancé at the park, when a dog attacked and pounced on him.

Heller’s mother, Jacque Heller, told NBC10 she saw the dog approach out of the corner of her eye, butwasn’t initially concerned about the dog because the park is located next to a dog park.

Heller’s fiancé kicked the dog off James, according to the article, and Jacque rushed her bleeding son to her truck and transported him for emergency treatment to Grand View Hospital, according to NBC10.

James received stitches and was released, but was admitted again Tuesday night because the cuts became infected, Jacque Heller told NBC10.

Rabies shots are needed because police cannot find the dog, according to the article. Pennridge Police told NBC10 the dog could have ran out from nearby woods. Police questioned park-goers and no one recognized the dog, according to the article. No one knows if the dog was a stray or a pet.

James Heller remains at Grandview Hospital and could be released Thursday, according to NBC10. Jacque told NBC10 James might need plastic surgery.

If the dog in question is spotted, contact Pennridge Regional Police at 215-257-5104.

So, the mother wasn't concerned that a dog POUNCED on her toddler ... or ... was "pounced" later used (by Mom & Dad) to glorify the story?

How does a wound get infected after leaving a hospital? Was the dressing not secure, or was it removed?

Somehow, I don;t think it's going to be easy to identify a Black Lab mix ... especially with no other mean of identification.

She prob wasn't concerned when she first saw the dog since its next to a dog park. Then it pounced on her son... Is what I'm assuming the article should say. Also... Wounds can easily get infected... Especially with children. They constantly touch everything. It happened on sat and he had to go back to the hospital on tues. There is bad reporting in this article.
