Two Local Breweries Nominated for Rising Star Award
The brewers from Prism Brewing Company and Round Guys Brewing Co. have been nominated for Rising Star Award from StarChefs.com.
A few local craft breweries were nominated for StarChefs 2013 Philadelphia Rising Stars Award.
In a letter from the features editor, Caroline Hatchett explained the StarChefs team visited 10 breweries and would announce the winner of the brewer award at the Feb. 21 Rising Stars gala at the Kimmel Center.
Locally, Scott Rudich and Rich DiLiberto of Round Guys Brewing, in Lansdale, and Rob DeMaria of Prism Brewing Company, in Upper Gwynedd, were nominated for the award.
In his article for StarChefs, Alex Kalaf described DeMaria of Prism Brewing Company as having an "off-beat humor" that is "as evident in his brewpub as it is in the beers."

Round Guys Brewing Company opened just off Main Street in downtown Lansdale. According to Kalaf's article in StarChef's, "Late one night after quite a few beers, Rudich called DiLiberto with the idea of starting a band or brewery." The brewery won.
On the Round Guys Brewery website, the brewers describe the brewery as: "The Brewery represents two long-time beer lovers who want to make great hand-crafted beer and share it with you."
Neighboring Forest & Main Brewing Company, in Ambler, was also nominated for the award.
