Upper Salford Woman Charged in Alleged Flashlight Assault

Darlene Kephart, 49, of Church Road, was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Pennsylvania State Police have charged an Upper Salford woman with assault for an alleged flashlight attack on June 6 in Upper Salford, police said.

Darlene Kephart, 49, of an apartment on the 1900 block of Church Road, Upper Salford, was arrested and arraigned on charges of misdemeanor simple assault, harassment and two counts of disorderly conduct before District Judge Catherine Hummel-Fried, police said.

Kephart allegedly hit a 45-year-old man from Bridgeport on the back of the head with a flash, causing minor injuries, police said. Officers had responded to Kephart’s home on June 6 between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. for a reported domestic dispute, police said.

Hummel-Fried released Kephart on $5,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 18 before Hummel-Fried.
