12 Million iPhone iPad ID’s Hacked From FBI Laptop

The hacking group known as AntiSec has claimed to have stolen over 12 million device IDs and personal information from APPLE iPhone and iPad users.  The information was stolen from an FBI laptop which contained 12,367,232 names, cellphone numbers, zipcodes and addresses of APPLE users.

It is not yet known why an FBI laptop contained such personal information and how it being used for law enforcement.  Recall back in April, it was revealed that the iPhone keeps record of everywhere you go with time and date stamps – and stores this information to a file.

The story that broke Sept. 4 is developing, but what we know so far is the hacking group has leaked 1,000,001 of the identifiers.   The claim states APPLE users’ information was lifted from a vulnerability in Java which allowed the attackers to obtain the personal information.

Two questions arise.  Why does the FBI have information on 12 million APPLE users?   And why was the laptop not encrypted?

A list of the leaked UDID’s are here.  If you are concerned you may be affected, you can search the compromised database here.

This story should either be taken down or modified because that headline is simply not true. The information did NOT come from an FBI laptop, it came from a software publisher who has admitted to being the source of the leak.
