In the latest Gallup poll, U.S. Distrust in Media Hits New High. Gallup concluded "The majority of Americans still do not have confidence in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately and fairly." Only 8 percent of Americans have a "great deal" of trust in the news media.
This should come as no surprise to anyone paying close attention to the developments around the world. Recall CNN's primetime ratings hit a 20-year low.
One example of the mistrust in the media is the reporting of gas prices. In my report back in March, I outlined the stark differences of media coverage under Bush vs. Obama.
Political coverage is the main reason for the mistrust in the media. Everyone knows what they are going to get from a variety of sources before they even log on.
NBC is known for giving a scant amount of coverage on the 'Fast and Furious' scandal resulting in a slain border patrol agent.
Romney has been in headlines lately questioning the $1.9 million in taxes he paid in 2011. What the media fails to realize is this election is not about what any politician paid in taxes. I personally don't care what Romney, or Obama for that matter, paid in taxes and neither does the average American. What matters are jobs and the direction of the country.
Science news is also highly biased. The media thrives on any story to support the global warming agenda – or should I now say 'climate change?' An example of this is the many outlets reporting the Arctic sea ice shrinking to an all-time low. But what gets ignored is the Antarctic sea ice is at record levels – but this report is nowhere to be found in the mainstream press. Data suggesting anything other than warming is simply ignored as I exposed last January. I'll make a prediction that when the PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) flips and Arctic ice grows, Antarctic ice will shrink. The news coverage will move from the Arctic, to the Antarctic.
The latest Gallup numbers are evident of what has been warned for years. The times of reporting the facts and letting the reader decide are over.
Can the media restore that trust? Is it too late? Journalists and editors better start paying attention to these polls.
Until reported information is missing the corporate views of news room editors, mistrust in the media will continue to grow.

Great article. The media have always been biased, but in the past it has generally been confined to the underlying assumptions of any story and what they deemed newsworthy - and "reporters" were genuinely clueless as to why people thought they were biased. This election, though, it seems they have decided to dive right into propaganda and not even try to maintain a pretense of unbiased reporting. And don't forget to include Fact Checkers, who most often are editorialists and interpreters rather than dealing with facts, in the Media.

Your analysis of climate change is a joke. If you want better data on climate change try climate progress http://thinkprogress.org/climate/issue/

I'm not joking. You said you're a Navy Man? Then it's funny you don't believe in climate change. Apparently the U.S. Navy Does.
U.S. NAVY CLIMATE CHANGE ROADMAP

Here's a quote from the report.
"A preponderance of global observational evidence shows the Arctic Ocean is losing sea ice, global temperatures are warming, sea level is rising, large landfast ice sheets (Greenland and Antarctic) are losing ice mass, and precipitation patterns are changing.1,2 While there has been criticism on the details of the methods and results found in reports published by the IPCC and other entities, the Navy acknowledges that climate change is a national security challenge with strategic implications for the Navy.3"

Nobody is arguing the climate is changing. It has been for 4.5 billion years. An AMS certified met told me once "worry when the climate does not change." What I am simply saying is the "global warming" agenda is the worlds biggest scam ever. Don't listen to me but I urge you to look at the other side. Step away from media matters, NY Times, MSNBC and BBC for a bit and read the other side of the debate. Don't absorb what you read. Look at graphs and data and make your own decision. Yes, patterns shift all the time. The Arctic loses ice extent at times. It also rebuilds. Learn about the MJO, PDO, AMO and climate cycles.
Oh and is this considered climate change?

I don't read or watch anything from the main stream media. It's GARBAGE.
It's a known fact that the antarctic is not warming as fast as the arctic.
As far as saying the "global warming" agenda is the worlds biggest scam ever.
Time will tell.

If I were to believe a source of information about Climate Change.
It would be from NASA Scientist Dr. James E. Hansen.

Smedley - one thing we both agree on is what you said: "I don't read or watch anything from the main stream media. It's GARBAGE." I could not agree more and I will defend you in the trenches on that. Too many people have taken way too many liberal arts classes and suddenly become experts on climate.
As far as James Hansen, I won't post links here, but he has a long history of cherry picking data, missing information from southern hemisphere when compiled into data structures, among other things including arrests. James Hansen has lost trust and dignity - something ALL activists do when they go too far. And I say that to people on BOTH sides of the debate and remind myself of it at times. Stick to the facts, 30 years of satellite data, which is all we have, and let the readers decide.
There were more records for cold broken than for heat last month, yet none of this is reported. And from physics, remember the energy it takes to cool a parcel of air is much more than than the energy it takes to heat the same parcel of air.
It is actually nice to have this discussion with you. Most people just want to revert to name calling. As an an AGW skeptic, I have dealt with it all, yet grown very thick skin.
I use channel 14 in the troposphere to measure temperature/historical data from satellites. See my weather page: http://www.threatcore.com/wx/
Good discussion...

"James Hansen has lost trust and dignity" Not in the scientific community.
"stick to the facts, 30 years of satellite data, which is all we have." Thousands of years of climate data is available through drilling ice cores and other scientific methods.
