Thanks Andy. As you might expect, I have a somewhat different view! Rather than overload yourRead More comments, you can head on over to http://lansdale.patch.com/blog_posts/is-grassroots-really-enough-hint-hint-no for my complete response.

Since Phoenixville is always thrown around as an example of what Lansdale wants to become, I find itRead More interesting that Phoenixville is building a new borough hall due to outdated facilities that weren't ADA compliant and inadequate space for the police, (http://phoenixville.patch.com/articles/look-up-look-down-borough-hall-shaping-up#video-14315288) and has contracted with a consultant for wayfinding signage (http://phoenixville.patch.com/articles/all-signs-point-to-a-signage-makeover-for-the-borough). Is that the only reason Phoenixville has been revitalizing? Surely not, but projects like this contribute to sense of place that attract business and visitors. I really believe that Mary Fuller, Dan Dunigan, and Mike Sobel understand this concept and I appreciate the work that they've done over the past 4 years along with the work that LAFs, the mayor, and other civic groups have contributed to Lansdale's positive momentum.

Oh my. I always assumed that she was mentally ill because she curses and screams at cars and anyoneRead More that looks at her. I made the mistake of making eye contact with her at the Hatfield Giant and she practically snarled. She is in amazing shape though.

Thanks for this nice and informative write-up. It is nice to put a name with a familiar face, andRead More after walking so long I guess everyone in town is familiar with Becky. That is an awful lot of walking though! Becky, you look great and I don't think you need to work so hard now :) As for Main Street Lansdale, I agee- back in the 60's the place was busy. A movie theatre was the key to that success. Best of luck.

I agree. It is the nicest looking building in the borough. It would be a crime to demolish it!

The Tremont replacement is a blight on the borough. The Stasi would have felt right at home in thatRead More hideous building. Whoever designed it should have his or her architecture degree revoked.

What about Dick Shearer ---- He's donated the last 10 years of his life diligently working for theRead More historical society and as anyone who knows him can say know what knows this town better than him. Just a suggestion. Either of those three locations would be great.

I think your paintings are nice, but you definitely need to make a stop at The Mitre Box to get someRead More better frames!! I also think you should do a painting of Joe while you're there since it's the family businesses like them who have been in Lansdale for decades (and many others as well) who give Lansdale her small town charm!!

Very interesting project Andy, and well done. You have represented Lansdale so well in all you do.Read More I strongly feel that the next portrait you do should be of yourself, and also Dick Shearer, who gives so much of his time to this borough. Keep up the good works and our borough will thrive. Thanks

I just find it funny that when we have a St. Patrick's day parade it's no problem when placed flyRead More the flag for Ireland. But the first time someone brings up the idea of paying some tribute to a country where their skin isn't white and their religion isn't the same as what most people here practice it's suddenly an affront to our freedom and National Security. What a horrible, horrible place we're becoming. What used to be the Red Scare is now nothing more than Middle Eastern Phobia.
Sherrianne Rocchino July 30, 2012 at 12:57 am
I think this is why our fore fathers came here, that is why we live in America. For freedom. I agreeRead More with you Marc. I'm tired of the Middle Eastern Phobias too, time to put it to rest.

Go for it! It looks really nice.

Please go to Broad Street & Main Street. Next to Kohler's is ........ a CLOCK!!! Looks veryRead More similiar... Please think about that before spending the funds to build a clock, so there could be a clock in Lansdale.

Whether or not a statue does cost less than $25,000, is there anyone that is willing to donate one?Read More A local artist perhaps?

Is the German American club socially active or is it just a bar? I'm German and would like toRead More participate.
Cindy Kelly February 8, 2012 at 11:20 pm
Great stories. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into another corner of Lansdale. I was recently aRead More guest at the VE German club in Warminster - wonderful people who are proud of their heritage.

This idea is not bad. This bldg has been the topic of many many discussions and instead of all theRead More talk, do something. Starting small is better to test the waters and an alternative to spending more $$$ on this money pit and not able to use AT ALL.
