Knapp Elementary School will host its second annual Black History Potluck Dinner, March 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the cafeteria.
This event honors the dream that Martin Luther King Jr., had for all children. Attendees will enjoy delicious dishes of macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, rice, veggies, cornbread, and plenty of desserts, while singing inspirational songs, and learning important facts about Black history and civil rights. Earn prizes for correct answers in a fun quiz.
This date was chosen in honor of Henry "Box" Freedom, a 19th century Virginia slave who escaped to freedom by having himself mailed to Philadelphia abolitionists in a wooden crate.
