  Science in the Summer: Elementary School Students to Discover the Wonde
 rs of Simple Machines \nMontgomery County students   entering second thr
 ough sixth grade will attend GlaxoSmithKline&rsquo\;s Science in the Sum
 mer program\, a free   and fun experiment-oriented course taught by  cer
 tified teachers to groups of   15 students in two age groups:&nbsp\;    
 children entering second and third grades (Level I) and children    ente
 ring fourth through sixth grades (Level II).&nbsp\; GlaxoSmithKline&rsqu
 o\;s Science   in the Summer is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in pa
 rtnership with   The Franklin Institute and local libraries.\nGlaxoSmith
 Kline&rsquo\;s Science in the Summer program will   teach  Montgomery Co
 unty students about Physics using six kinds of Simple    Machines - leve
 r\, inclined plane\, screw\, wheel\, pulley and gear.  Students   will b
 uild simple machines that help people to do work more  easily\, such as 
   lift huge boulders\, build bridges\, pump water\, etc.&nbsp\;  Student
 s will learn about motion\, discovering that   everything in the  univer
 se moves and why.&nbsp\;\nSessions are offered in   the morning (Level I
 : 10 - 10:45 a.m.\,  Level II: 11:15 a.m. - noon) and in   the afternoon
  (Level I: 2:00 -  2:45 p.m.\, Level II: 3:15 - 4:00 p.m.).&nbsp\; Speci
 al two-day and Saturday  sessions   are available at select branches. &n
 bsp\;Two-day sessions are:  Level I: 10 a.m. &ndash\; noon and Level II:
    2 p.m. to 4 p.m. &nbsp\;Sessions on    Saturday are Level I: 10 a.m. 
 &ndash\; 11:45 a.m. and  Level II: 12:30 p.m. &ndash\; 2:15 p.m.\nParent
 s  must register in person at the library they wish their child to  atte
 nd.&nbsp\; The selection process varies by library.&nbsp\; Students are 
 selected  to participate either through a lottery or on a first-come bas
 is.\nCourse Dates and Times:\nJuly 30 - 31 (two-day session)\nLevel I: 1
 0 a.m. &ndash\; noon\, Level II: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
