Professor Edward G. Lengel of the University of Virginia will be present to speak at the Moland House and review the detailed childhood drawing of a two-masted sailing vessel done by a 10-year old George Washington that will be on display. He is an American military historian and Editor-in-Chief of The Papers of George Washington documentary editing project at the University in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In addition to editing several volumes of the Papers of George Washington, he has written several books, including "General George Washington: A Military Life" and "Inventing George Washington", and numerous articles for Military History (for which he is a regular columnist), American Heritage and other publications. He is a frequent public speaker on Washington and the Revolutionary War and has also made appearances on The History Channel, The National Geographic Channel, and other television channels.
