Lickity-Split Cougars Jumper Qualifies for Championships

On Saturday May 24, Nathan Merena, 7, a first-grader from Pennsburg, PA, qualified for the Philadelphia Area Spring Track and Field Championships in the boys Under-9 long jump.  Nathan’s first-round jump, 2.50 meters (8’ 2”), was his best – neither his second, 2.30, or third, a foul, were better. He is ranked 6th heading into the May 31 Youth Outdoor Spring Championships. His PR is 2.89 meters (9’ 6”) from August 2013 and his recent best is 2.86 meters, 2” less, from winter track January 25. Nathan has skipped most of the spring season (trains casually) due to other commitments. Nathan competes for the USA Track and Field Club (USATF), Lickity-Split. The COUGARS are the only track club for kids under 9 year of age in Bucks County. And, the only youth track club (non-CCD) in Bucks County. SUMMER track starts real soon!! Lickity-Split is open to girls and boys ages 4 (pre-school) through 18+ (high school) as well as adult men and women open through masters +++ age groups. The COUGARS practice twice weekly in the evenings from 6:15-8:00 pm at sites in Bucks (Doylestown) and Montgomery (Collegeville/Pennsburg) Counties. The satellite groups then meet up to compete.
