Boil Water Advisory in Sellersville at Least Through Tuesday

North Penn Water Authority announced a water main break Monday caused the boil water advisory.

A water main break Sunday night in Sellersville has prompted a boil water advisory that is expected to last at least until Tuesday, North Penn Water Authority announced.

While the water main break has been repaired and the entire distribution system in Sellersville has been returned to full pressure, DEP requires that the Boil Water Advisory remain in effect until all water quality sampling and testing is completed.

North Penn Water Authority said the earliest all tests will be completed is Tuesday.

“This is a precautionary measure, since the loss of positive water pressure in the system caused by the main break created an environment in which it was theoretically possible for contaminants to enter the distribution system through a backflow," North Penn Water Authority announced on its website.

"Whether or not this actually occurred cannot be known definitively. At this point, there is no data than can validate that there is, or ever was, the occurrence of unsatisfactory water quality during this incident,” North Penn Water Authority announced.
