Copper Wire Stolen from Transformer at Main St. Apartments

Copper grounding wire valued at $200 was stolen from the transformer after someone cut a hole in the fence between August 2010 and August 2012

Someone cut a hole in the chainlink fence surrouding a transformer at Main Street Apartments and stole $200 worth of copper grounding wire, Towamencin Township Police said.

Police said four sections of grounding wire were taken between August 1, 2010 - two years ago - and August 8, 2012.

The transformer was the main transformer at the apartment site at 1158 W. Main St., police said.

August 1, 2010 was the last service work date on the transformer.

The theft was discovered by an electrical contractor performing routine maintenance, police said.
