1. Today is the first day to circulate petitions for nominations for the ballot for open municipal seats in the 2013 Election. The last day to circulate and file is March 12.

Lansdale American Association of University Women hosts an educational presentation on Octavius Catto and his Tireless Fight for Civil Rights at 7 p.m. at the Educational Services Center in Lansdale. A learned man, Octavius V. Catto was linked to virtually every important black movement and the inner circle of Radical Republicans of his time in the 19th Century. Catto's insistence on equality for all men has been categorized as "fanatical."
