Golf Outing Sept. 29 to Help North Wales Man With ALS

A second-annual golf outing on Sept. 29 in Coopersburg will help make Paul Wensel Jr.'s life a little bit better.

According to Angie Mountain of PhillyBurbs.com, the "Play for Paul" golf outing will occur at Locust Valley Golf Club.

Wensel Jr., of North Wales, is a graudate of Lansdale Catholic High School, according to the article. He was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in December 2010, according to the article.

Proceeds from the inaugural event allowed Wensel's family to purchase a used handicapped van, according to the article. Modifications were also made to his bathroom to make it more accessible.

Wensel formerly owned The Hickory Pit at the SEPTA North Wales station.

The Kutztown University grad and wife Sharon have a son who attends the Culinary Institute of America in New York, according to PhillyBurbs. A second son just graduated North Penn High School.

If you want to help, the registration fee is $100 per golfer. The fee includes greens, cart, prizes, hot dog lunch and picnic dinner. Tee-off is at noon and it is a scramble format.
