Masturbator Suspect Boyce Charged with Attempted Rape in Philly in 2000

The charge was eventually dropped by the prosecution, but Boyce pleaded guilty to indecent assault and corrupting a minor

This isn't Gerald F. Boyce Jr.'s first brush with the law over indecent exposure and corruption of minors charges.

Boyce Jr., 40, of Wissahickon Avenue in Lansdale, the between June 2011 and May 2012, was charged by Philadelphia Police in June 2000 with attempted rape, sexual assault and corruption of minors, as well as additional charges.

Furthermore, Boyce Jr. was charged in 1999 by Philadelphia Police with indecent exposure and open lewdness.

He was also found guilty in 1997 of indecent exposure, open lewdness and corruption of a minor.

A charge of indecent exposure was dropped at a January 2001 preliminary hearing in Philadelphia Municipal Court by Judge Glynnis Hill for the June 2000 case, according to court records.

Philadelphia County prosecutors eventually dropped the charges of attempted rape, sexual assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person and harassment in July 2002 during a dispostion, according to Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas records.

Boyce did plead guilty to indecent assault, corrpution of a minor and simple assault, according to court records. 

Boyce never faced jail time: He was put on probation for two years and two days for each charge, according to court records.

Under the court records, it lists the dropped charges as "Noelle Prossed." This means that either that the charges could not be proved, that evidence had demonstrated either innocence or a fatal flaw in the prosecution's claim, or the district attorney had become convinced the accused is innocent. 

In the 1999 incident, Boyce was charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct, according to Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas records. All charges were dismissed at a May 2000 preliminary hearing.

Boyce had six separate criminal cases filed in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia between 1995 and 2007.

  • In October 2007, Boyce was found not guilty of simple assault by a jury. A charge of aggravated assault was dismissed at a preliminary hearing, and a charge of recklessly endangering another person was withdrawn, according to court records.

  •  In the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Boyce was found guilty on March 4, 1997 of indecent exposure, corruption of a minor and open lewdness. He was sentenced to prison on the corrpution of a minor and open lewdness charges and two years probation for the indecent exposure charge.

All cases were filed when Boyce Jr. was a Philadelphia resident. According to Montgomery County property records, Boyce Jr. moved to his Wissahickon Avenue home in Lansdale in October 2008.

Boyce is not a Megan's Law offender.
