North Wales Area Library Would Like to See You at Dinner

The Metropolitan American Diner and Bar will hold a fundraiser for The Friends of the North Wales Area Library on Thursday

Eating at the Metropolitan American Diner and Bar, located at 750 Upper State Road in Montgomery Township, may help keep North Wales Area Library running.

The restaurant will hold a fundraising event for the library this Thursday during its lunch and dinner servings.

For every Metropolitan patron telling their server that they are there for the library, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales to the Friends of North Wales Area Library.

According to the NWAL website, the Friends of NWAL is a charitable organization of individuals, businesses and services groups, who support the library through donations, volunteerism and publicity.

Jayne Blackledge, North Wales Area Library director, said that the nonprofit reached out to Metropolitan, noting that this is the first fundraising event at the restaurant. She said she hopes the evening will be a success, as similar past restaurant fundraising events have been fruitful for the library.

According to Blackledge, the Friends of NWAL intends on donating more than $1,500 next fiscal year, in order to help with the general operating expenses of the library.

Such expenses include facility maintenance, which Blackledge explained “are more difficult to get a grant for.”
