Pa. Couple Marries in Hospital Day Before Woman's Death
Bill Carroll and Missi Wright wed at 7:30 p.m. on July 2 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She passed away the next day at 10:25 p.m.
On July 2, Missi Wright held her fiancé's hand during their marriage ceremony from her hospital bed.
The next day, she held that same hand as she passed away at the age of 36 after a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

The couple, from Morton, have been together since 2003 but didn’t get married because of the financial impact it might have on her health care benefits. “Being together so long, we kind of considered ourselves married anyway,” Carroll told the Delaware County Times.
Carroll had proposed just days before and the couple had originally planned to wed on July 4. But Wright’s condition swiftly deteriorated and the couple decided to move the ceremony up by a few days.

According to her obituary, Wright was a lifelong resident of Delaware County and a graduate of St. Joseph’s University. She was employed with Health Advocate in Plymouth Meeting and operated her own business, Baby Cakes by Missi.
She was “an active and dedicated” volunteer with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her sister, Colleen, also passed away from the disease.
