Police Report Phone Fraud Incident

A resident of York Avenue received a call from someone posing as her grandson and requesting $2,100 to be wired to Mexico

A female resident of the 400 block of York Avenue in was smart enough to know she was involved in a phone scam.

Lansdale Police said the resident reported July 26 at 3 p.m. that she received a call from a person purporting to be her grandson.

The caller told the woman he was in Mexico and needed $2,100 wired to him, police said.

The resident told the caller she knew it was a scam and ended the call, police said.

Lansdale Police encouarge citizens to be cautious of phone calls requesting large amounts of money to be wired to another location, and calls where persons pose as a family member requesting wiring of money.
