A tornado watch is in effect for Montgomery County until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The hot and very humid air mass is covering the entire Pennsylvania and New Jersey region, which is favorable for development of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Severe thunderstorms are developing now over portions of central and northeast Pennsylvania. These storms are expected to increase in coverage and intensity as they move eastward into the Poconos and southeast Pennsylvania.
Other counties affected by the watch include Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Philadelphia.
