Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled For First August Weekend

Checkpoint will be posted between Friday, August 3, and Sunday, August 5, with a location somewhere in western Montgomery County.

The Pennsylvania State Police have announced that they will conduct another sobriety checkpoint this coming weekend, between the evening hours of Friday, August 3, and the early morning hours of Sunday, August 5.

Though the press release does not identify the specific location of the checkpoint, it does state that the checkpoint will be posted somewhere in western Montgomery County, with the help of a local municipal police force.

The release urges motorists to make responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel, and adds that sobriety checkpoints have been shown to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related crashes.

Will that anarchist, occupy group be bumbling around. They are hilarious. Id love to drive by them and encourge them. Thier inflated self importance just kills me. Also when they cite studies and use big words. Ha!

I agree with you, I think it is outrages that the police can stop you for no reason at all, you must produce ID and submit to a serious of questions. Since when is it against the law to drive down the road? Total abuse of power, the police need to set up side of any local bar around 2:00 am and they will see all of drivers who are leaving local bars and driving drunk. I think that the average citizen should not have to submit to police check points.

This checkpoint is in violation of the fourth amendment of the US Constitution, per the USSC ruling in Michigan State Police vs. Sitz, because the exact location of the checkpoint has not been published. I plan to notify the PA State Police of this.
