500 Merck Employees at West Point Getting Pink Slips
Merck will start eliminating jobs between Dec. 23 and Jan. 5, 2014.
Talk about a bad Christmas gift.
Merck Pharmaceuticals will layoff 500 employees at its West Point facility between Dec. 23, 2013 and Jan. 5, 2014, according to the October 2013 Pennsylvania Department of Labor WARN notice.
According to KYW 1060, Merck announced it would eliminate 8,500 jobs to cut expenses by almost $3 billion.
Per KYW, the cuts are needed for transformational change and eliminate inefficiencies.
