Lansdale Borough Department of Community Development has received construction drawings and building permit applications

That activity is in preparation for a Dollar Tree store.

According to Director of Community Development John Ernst, the borough codes department has received construction drawings and building permit applications for the store.

Ernst said Dollar Tree will be taking over part - not all - of the vacant Super Foodtown.

Dollar Tree will also be acquiring some space from .

Ernst said Dollar Tree has received a demolition permit for the work currently being done at the site.

A call has been made to Dollar Tree representative Timothy Reid for comment.

I thought Lansdale said this was going to be a bowling alley. Once again, Lansdale fails the community.

Julianne - We wrote a story last year stating the bowling alley was never slated to come to this center. It was misreported in The Reporter and clarified by a council member at a Lansdale public meeting. A bowling alley and entertainment venue is slated to go in at Hillcrest Shopping Center

The big question is...will they still sell beer? Dollar bottles would still be profitable for them on certain brands, it's not as crazy a question as it sounds.

why part of superfood town and part of pet store?
Bill Henning July 07, 2012 at 04:17 AM
Yeah, that was my question too.

Why can't Lansdale aquifer quality stores??? I don't get it. Why do we need more dollar stores, consignment shops, cell phone shops and such? No one is going to come to Lanadale for these stores.

Chassity--the dollar tree is currently at Redners and it is my understanding it will be the one moving there. Yes I will come to Lansdale for that. I am disappointed that the consignment shop closed, and contrary to your belief, people WILL come to Lansdale for consignment shops. I am with Bill Henning and others--why only part of Super Foodtown and partof pet store? Why not leave the pet store alone and allow Dollar tree the entire foodtown?

They probably do not need the whole foodtown and that way the owners get another store space available.

I'll miss Dollar Tree at Redners. It's convenient and, I would think, a good spot for business. I can't understand why they are moving, and I probably won't be shopping there as often once they move.

Pet smart does not need all the space it currently has, and making it smaller will help reduce their current sq ft lease price. Dollar Tree does not need all the space currently allocated to the vacant Super Foodtfown space. By taking space from each of the two spaces, it leaves a third space for another potential tenant. Its all about the money and the best economics for everyone involved

Pet smart is near target, Pets Plus is a decent store--sorry to hear it is downsizing some. I am with others I like Dollar tree where it is currently located but since their stock continues to expand I see why they need a bigger spot
john ernst July 07, 2012 at 06:46 PM
Thanks, Julianne. I meant Pets Plus

JulIanne- we have countless of all of these stores already. In fact it seems we r overrun with them and stores of this nature are everywhere why another? It reminds me of the drugstore situation. How many of those do we need...really???
