For the borough residents who couldn't get their Christmas fill during , another winter wonderland made its debut next to the .
Thanks to the efforts of the Lansdale Business Association, the "Holiday Festival of Trees" will shine brightly from Main Street and Mitchell Avenue for the duration of the holiday season.
"It's free to the public and we think it will help get people into the spirit of the holidays," said Mary Schwalje, of Lansdale's , who helped organize the event. "It lets people know a little more about the local businesses in Lansdale, and it gives the families a fun experience."
The Christmas tree display features uniquely decorated trees by 14 area businesses, including , and . By design, each tree features decorations representative of the creator's organization.
"We thought it would be different to have them decorate the trees according to their business, rather than just Christmas balls or the usual decorations on there," said resident Jean Fritz, of the Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue, who organized the event with Schwalje.
The display is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite tree, with the winner receiving exclusive bragging rights until next year's display.
There's also a raffle, with proceeds going to the promotion of businesses in borough.
"We have a raffle for a lovely holiday wreath, as well as a $50 Visa gift card and a $25 gift card," said Schwalje, who added the raffle tickets can be purchased on site for $2 each or 3 for $5.
If you can't make it while the doors are open, you can still take in the festive sights.
"The lights are on timers, so even if we're not open, people can still walk by and see the trees all lit up," said Fritz.
