Spencer's Coming Back to Montgomery Mall

After closing in January 2007, Spencer's is set to reopen in Fall 2013 on the lower level of the mall. Readers shared their opinions on the matter on our Facebook page.

After leaving in January 2007, Spencer's Gifts, now referred to as Spencer's, is coming back to Montgomery Mall in Montgomeryville.
Spencer's is set to open on the lower level of the mall in Fall 2013, which also coincides with the opening of Wegmans next door to the mall.
Advertising at the mall boasted a "new look" and a "new party."
Per its website, Spencer's first opened in 1963 at the Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey. By the mid-1990s, it was owned by Universal Studios.
In 2003, a joint venture took over, re-branded the name and constructed four prototype stores, per its website. One of those stores is at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall.
Spencer's is now owned by ACON Investments.
The brand caters to twentysomethings and thirtysomethings, with a party flair.
Facebook followers left their memories and expectations of Spencer's on the Lansdale Patch page. They also opined about Montgomery Mall in general.
"Wow, I haven't been to the mall in so long I didn't even know it was gone," said William Hannings.
"They need a Wanamaker's, a Chess King, and a Woolworths," said Eric Hafner.
"All they need now is a Hickory Farms," said Chad Wegner. (Didn't they used to? Near Aldo? Wow, that's gone too).
"Good. I need a new ZoSo velvet black light poster," said Dan Francis.
"I was just there tonight and saw that. I did a double take. Can't believe they're still in business," said Colleen Fennessey.
"I didn't even know it left!" said Tim Sweeney. "That was a must-stop store to go to when hanging at the mall in the late 80s-early 90s back when hanging at the mall was cool! Do kids still go to the mall? Mall and then Friendly's! Yea buddy!"
What do you think of the new store? What is your opinion on Montgomery Mall?
