Tabora Farms Grand Opening Concert is June 17

A Hilltown, Bucks County-based farm market, spice shop, from-scratch bakery and orchard is ready to pop the cork on its second location on Main Street Lansdale.

Tabora Farms is still undergoing some construction in the space next to Red Lotus Tattoo, but things are already in the works to celebrate its grand opening.

The new location will be a winery, coffee shop, spice shop and bakery.

The Lansdale Parks and Recreation Committee has approved a grand opening concert in on Father's Day, June 17, starting at 4 p.m. The approval is contigent on Tabora Farms naming Lansdale Borough as additionally insured on the business's insurance policy.

"Our store is progressing nicely. We hope that within 45 days, we will be open and ready for sales," said owner Caleb Torrice last Wednesday. 

"Part of what we would like to do, as a token of appreciation for all the support we've gotten from Lansdale residents and from the brough and everybody involved in the project, is have an outdoor concert," Torrice said.

Torrice said the first performer would be Erin Lee Kelly and the Up Past Bedtime Band, a New York City-based family music group, at 4 p.m.

"It's a kids' group; it's something for the kids to come and hang out for an hour," Torrice said. "(Up All Night) has performed at our store in Chalfont Many times."

Following Kelly, Tabora Farms will host "something more for the adults," Torrice said.

The local bluegrass band Hilltown is scheduled to perform at 5:30 p.m.

Hilltown has also played at Tabora Farms' Hilltown location, Torrice said.

"There are 13 members in this band, and they are amazing," Torrice said. "Personally, I am not a bluegrass fan, but I sit and listen to these guys. The way they perform together is magical."

Parks and Recreation Director Carl Saldutti asked if the concert was part of a bigger event. Torrice said it is the heart of the grand opening "to announce (Tabora) is now officially open."

"Even though we'll be open, we needed a concrete date, or even say this is our grand opening," Torrice said. 

The event doesn't just fall on Father's Day; it is also the day after the "Under the Lights Car Show." 

"What better thing to do on Father's Day?" said Torrice.

Saldutti said there would be no restrictions to have the event on a Sunday.

"Typically, the plaza is used for larger events as a component of a bigger event, not just for a standalone concert," Saldutti said. "It would be something for the committee to decide. Because it is a new business in town, with a grand opening and other festivities taking place in the store at the same time, it would be something they would consider." 

Saldutti said parks employees would probably have to work overtime to make sure the plaza is presentable for a Sunday.

"We will do a walk-through and clean up to make sure the plaza is presentable. The electricity and power are there, so that's not a problem," Saldutti said. "I'll be checking in to make sure everything's fine."

Saldutti said he would notify Chief Robert McDyre of the event. 

"We would let the police know of the event, just so that there's some presence around," Saldutti said. 

Committee member Rich DiGregorio said he has visited the main location and he had a good time when he was there.

Torrice said the concert would not be a big event.

"Normally, when we do a concert in Chalfont, we pull in 100 to 150 people," Torrice said. "It's not a huge event, yet." 

Tabora Farm is currently open for business at 1104 Upper Stump Road, Hilltown Township (Chalfont PA), from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
