Local Resident Appointed Solicitor of County's Industrial Development Authority

Merle R. Ochrach, Esq. was recently appointed Solicitor of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority.

Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, PC is pleased to report that Merle R. Ochrach, Esq. was recently appointed Solicitor of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority (MIDA). In her role as Solicitor, Ms. Ochrach will represent the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority in facilitating loan and bond financing to borrowers throughout Montgomery County and representing the Authority in its day to day operations pursuant to the Pennsylvania Economic Development Act.

The MIDA assists manufacturing firms, nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, educational institutions and health care organizations, as well as water treatment plants and pollution control facilities, in borrowing money from private sector financing institutions and loaning this money to Montgomery County companies to finance projects with below-market interest rates that are tax-exempt to the lender. 

Merle Ochrach has been practicing real estate law for over twenty years. Ms. Ochrach represents numerous municipalities, municipal authorities (water and sewer and industrial development authorities), lending institutions, developers and homeowners. Because of her in-depth knowledge of the requirements of local governments as well as the procedures for obtaining approvals and permits, she is sought after by developers and business people for help with a wide array of issues. Ms. Ochrach has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting commercial leases and has developed an expertise in addressing lease issues for retail, commercial and industrial centers. Ms. Ochrach negotiates and settles commercial lending transactions and secures sophisticated financing for borrowers and represents banks alike. She also represents a number of industrial development authorities with regard to tax exempt financing. Ms. Ochrach is listed in the Bond Buyer’s Red Book. Additionally, she aids realtors with advice on problematic issues that arise in the course of a real-estate transaction. Ms. Ochrach has been tremendously active in the Montgomery Bar Association, having served as a past member of its Board of Directors, a past Chairperson of its Real Estate/Land Use Committee, a past Chair of the Montgomery Law Reporter Committee and a past Chairperson of its Municipal Law Committee. She also served as a delegate to the Pennsylvania House of Delegates for the Montgomery Bar Association. Ms. Ochrach served as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Development Corporation, a County organization that administers several State loan and grant funds. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. 1982), Ms. Ochrach received her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law Camden in 1985.
