Two Injured in Route 309 Montgomery Township Crash

Two drivers were injured in a Thursday morning accident at Route 309 and Mele Drive.
Shortly before 10:49 a.m., a 2005 Isuzu box truck, driven by a 33-year-old Philadelphia man, was north on Route 309, when the truck was struck by a 2012 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 53-year-old woman, who was southbound on Route 309, police said.
The impact occurred in the northbound lanes, police said.
The driver of the truck was on the ground when the first officer arrived, according to Montgomery Township Police Lt. Gerry Dougherty. The female driver was removed from her vehicle by rescue personnel.
The driver of the Isuzu was flown by PennStar Medevac helicopter to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. The driver of the Toyota was transported by the Volunteer Medical Service Corps to Abington Hospital, police said.
The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time, police said.
Montgomery Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Colmar Fire Department, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, Hatfield Township Police Department, Fire Police of Montgomery Township and Colmar Fire Police.
The accident remains under investigation by the Montgomery Township Police Department.
