Write a Poem to Your Love for Valentine's Day During Poetry Workshop at Ursinus College

A poetry workshop hosted by Visiting Assistant Professor of
Creative Writing Anna Maria Hong will be held at Ursinus College on Feb. 13 at
6:30 p.m. in Myrin Library. The event, just in time for Valentine’s Day, is
free and open to the community.

Last year, Hong was awarded the Frederick
Bock Prize by the Poetry Foundation of Chicago, which publishes Poetry
magazine, for her poems Pluralisms and A Fable in the April 2013 issue. The
Frederick Bock Prize was established in 1981 by friends in memory of the former
associate editor of Poetry. Past winners of the Frederick Bock Prize are Billy
Collins (1992) and Jane Kenyon (1993).

Hong earned a bachelor of arts in
philosophy at Yale University and a master of fine arts in creative writing
from the University of Texas at Austin’s Michener Center for Writers. Her poems
have been published in many journals and anthologies, including 250 Poems: A
Portable Anthology (2012) and The Best American Poetry 2013. She was the
Bunting Fellow in poetry at Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study in
2010-11.
