Competitive 'Turkey Shoot' Fundraiser Set for Thanksgiving Morning in Upper Gwynedd

The Upper Gwynedd Lions Club hosts the annual event on the site of Dunkerly Construction on Moyers Boulevard. Don't worry--it has nothing to do with shooting turkeys.

The only thing turkeys have to fear this Thanksgiving is ending up as the main course on the dinner table of many North Penn area families.
It goes without saying then--They won't be the targets of the Upper Gwynedd Lions Club's annual "Turkey Shoot" fundraiser on Thanksgiving morning next month.
The tradition in the township is more than 40 years old, according to a public notice by Upper Gwynedd Township Police.
The competitive target shoot will take place Nov. 28 at the rear of Dunkerly Construction at 425 Moyers Blvd. in Upper Gwynedd.
The shoot is a fundraiser for local charities, police said.
Participants shoot a shotgun at a block of wood, with the closest center shot being the winner.
To the victor: a turkey or ham.
Registration is first come, first serve, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 28. The competition begins at 8:30 a.m.
Police said the site of the shoot is pre-approved and is in "an ample safety zone."
