North Penn Boys and Girls Club Gets $40,000 Grant from Philadelphia Foundation

The grant will go toward educational, recreational and character-building programs at the Lansdale facility.

The North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club in Lansdale has received a $40,000 grant from the James F. Bodine Fund for At-Risk Youth, the Elizabeth Jamison O’Brien Fund, the Ambrose J. Truitt Memorial Fund, and the Nancy B. McKean Fund, all funds of The Philadelphia Foundation. 

The grant will support educational, recreational, and character-building programs at the Boys & Girls Club. The grant was approved on Dec. 19, 2013.

Robert K. Kreamer, chief executive officer of the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club, said the funds would be used to support Project Learn, a free homework assistance program, as well as to provide summer camp scholarships and other general program support. 

"The Philadelphia Foundation’s generous grant will help us offer important opportunities for learning and recreation for our more than 3,000 members in 2014. Thanks to The Philadelphia Foundation, we will provide free academic enrichment and Summer Day Camp to the children in our community who need us most," Kreamer said.

The North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club was started in 1966 by a small group of local families who wanted recreational opportunities for their young sons. 

Today, the Club hosts 3,200 boys and girls annually in some 50 programs, including opportunities in athletics, the arts, and community service.
