The Back Nine

After waking up earlier than usual, due to the time change we were going to hit that night, we headed to Salt Lake City. I had high hopes and after such a great time on the West Coast and Nevada.

SLC sucked. Fairgrounds couldn't play due to being 19 & 20, it was rainy and ugly out, the drive there sucked and the promoter didn't even come so the bartender said we weren't even booked that night. Fairgrounds did find a show down the street and we were able to still play at Burt's Tiki Lounge but Fairgrounds had to break down and send over their only of age member to help load the gear at our gig, after they played their set.  Plus, we were the only band that even showed up!

The club was cool but a Monday night in a town run by nutjobs, pretty much 5 people watched us play. I play harder on those nights. Why not? Might as well have fun. We did make a few fans and hung out with a couple other touring bands looking for shows, but it fucking sucked. I had fun but overall, it was a bust.

From there we drove through the night and morning to Colorado. What a beautiful state. And Denver was a really cool city, with tons if energy. This tour so far has consisted of three major things: McDonalds, PBR & Motel 6. We've tried to stay over in a city every other day, or unless it was a place we wanted to stay in. Denver was worth the stay.

The venue that night was the Rocky Mountain Sound Garden and it was an awesome spot. A pretty newly opened venue/studio/rehearsal spot. It was a beautiful day and the venue was right next to a park and lake. The show filled in nicely and we played a really tight set. Lots of energy but not without problems. Tim broke a string. Again. The sound was also hard to hear and the monitors were way off. But it still a good gig. We partied with the locals and got good sleep. The drive awaits.

This was by far the worst drive of the tour. 10 hours through Nebraska and Iowa, to play Des Moines. Might as well been driving at night cause there was nothing. It also sucked knowing we were going to get there unpack, play, pack and leave. Des Moines was a really pretty town. Would have liked to spend more time. But the crowd wasn't big. Better than the night before but nothing much. We met cool people, the venue was nice and the staff was really great. We even got hooked up by a local punk at great shop around the corner. After eating, we got in the van and headed out for a 2 day stay in Illionis.

It was only a 5 hour drive to Chicago, but we hit rush hour traffic and that delayed out arrival. Not that I mattered. We drove to see the venue, which is only a few blocks from Wrigley Field. After breakfast at McDonalds, we checked in to the Motel 6. Maybe some PBR tonight.
