Michigan State Spartans
The Spartans have announced their starting quarterback after a crazy four-way battle for the starting spot. Last year's starter, Senior Andrew Maxwell, will start this year for Michigan State after winning the battle over Sophomore Connor Cook, redshirt Freshman Tyler O'Connor, and true Freshman Damion Terry. After a battle that has been very close and competitive, Maxwell has emerged on top like most had predicted. The senior was 52.5% passing with 2,606 yards and 13 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

USC Trojans
Starting Senior RB Silas Redd will not play in the season opener at Hawaii on Thursday night. Redd has been lagged by a persistent knee injury, but should return in Week 2 against Washington State for the Trojans. The senior transferred to USC at the beginning of last season from Penn State after sanctions were announced for the Nittany Lions; Silas had 6 starts and played in 12 games to record 167 rushes for 905 yards and 9 touchdowns (led USC in rushing last season). Because of Redd's absence, look for true Freshman Justin Davis, Sophomore Tre Madden, and Junior D.J. Morgan to get extra reps and some exposure to a national audience.
