Alleged Sellersville Bank Robber Dion Rosenberger Nabbed

The 47-year-old Sellersville man was arrested and charged with robbery after being identified by a surveillance photo

A Sellersville resident convicted of credit card fraud and writing bad checks is the alleged culprit who robbed the First Niagara Bank in his own town.

Dion Brett Rosenberger, 47, of North Main Street, has been arrested for and charged in the robbery of a First Niagara Bank in Sellersville on Aug. 31, Perkasie Borough Police said.

Rosenberger remains at Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 cash bail, according to court records.

He is on a probation detainer, having violated his probation in a 2011 access device fraud sentencing stemming from charges filed by Doylestown Borough Police.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 17 at 8:45 a.m. before District Judge Charles Baum, according to court documents. He was arraigned Sept. 5.

Police said Rosenberger was identified by a surveillance photo.

Rosenberger was placed on two years' probation in November 2011 after pleading guilty to access device fraud at Bucks County Court of Common Pleas, according to court records.

In July 2011, Rosenberger was charged by Doylestown Borough Police with 12 counts of theft by unlawful taking, 12 counts of receiving stolen property, and 12 counts of access device fraud, according to court records.

Only one charge - one count of access device fraud - was held over for Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. All the other 35 charges were withdrawn at a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31, 2011, according to court records.

In February 2007, Rosenberger was charged with five counts of writing bad checks and one count of theft by deception by Perkasie Borough Police, according to court records. 

All five bad check charges were held for county arraignment, but the theft by deception charge was dismissed at a preliminary hearing, according to records.

Rosenberger went on to plead guilty to all five counts of writing bad checks, and was sentenced to two years' probation in July 2007, according to court records.

In June 1997, Rosenberger had a burglary charge, a criminal trespassing charge, five counts of criminal attemted burglary, a possessing an instrument of crime count, a possessing a weapon count and a simple assault charge lodged against him in Hilltown Township.

A jury found Rosenberger guilty of criminal trespassing, simple assault, and both weapon possession charges, according to court records. Rosenberger was sentenced to two to five years in prison and five years' probation.

Rosenberger appealed the decision to Superior Court, which upheld the original ruling, according to records.

In June 2001, Rosenberger was placed on house arrest at the home of his grandmother, Doris Hangey in Perkasie, according to court records. He was banned from going within two miles of his mother's home on Seven Corner Road in Perkasie.

A petition for house arrest was denied, overruled and refused in 2002. Rosenberger was ordered to remain on work release and to be paroled on July 2, 2002.
