Cops: Man Wanted for Stealing from ShopRite, Dragging Employee with Car

An arrest warrant has been issued for Garrett Thomas Libby, 23, of Quakertown, for allegedly robbing the Hatfield Township store May 20 and then dragging an employee with his SUV as he fled the lot, police said.

Hatfield Township Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Quakertown man, who allegedly robbed ShopRite in Hatfield and then dragged an employee as he left the parking lot in his SUV, police said.

Garrett Thomas Libby, 23, of the 100 block of California Road, Quakertown, is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, simple assault, reckless endangerment, retail theft and receiving stolen property, police said.

Police said Libby allegedly stole several items from the Forty Foot Road store on May 20, shortly before 7:32 p.m.

After Libby allegedly left the store with the items and entered his maroon 2000 Ford Explorer, he was confronted by a loss prevention employee in the parking lot, police said. Libby allegedly refused to stop and the employee was dragged by the fleeing SUV, police said.

The victim is still receiving treatment for her injuries at Abington Hospital, police said.

Libby’s SUV has Pennsylvania registration JBS-0429, police said. Libby is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, police said.
