Court Documents: Suspect Had Prior Altercation With Victim

Murder suspect James Lee Troutman had allegedly held the victim against her will two weeks prior to the murder.

In the aftermath of the tragic death of Skyler Kauffman, an abundance of questions have been posed in regards to a prior incident involving both the suspect and the victim.

According to court documents, on April 18, the Souderton Police Department responded to a "suspicious situation" at the Troutman residence, which involved both Skyler Kauffman and a friend, who the records refer to as "P.H."

Both Kauffman and her friend needed to use a restroom, so Troutman allegedly offered to let the girls use the bathroom in his apartment, according to an affidavit.

Once the girls entered the bathroom, they saw pornographic pictures on all of the walls, which Troutman allegedly "told them to ignore," according to reports.

The two girls became nervous about being inside the apartment, the affidavit states, and decided to leave.  Once they exited the bathroom, Troutman allegedly offered to show the two girls his "bird," according to the affidavit.

The girls immediately tried to flee, but found that the front door to the apartment had been locked. After a brief struggle with the door, the girls successfully unlocked the door, the affidavit states, and fled to their parents' home on foot.

No charges were filed.

At Tuesday's press conference, both the Souderton Police Department and District Attorney Risa Ferman declined to address the prior report.

Souderton police did not file charges against Troutman for the prior incident.

Souderton police and the district attorney had no comment about the prior case and filing of charges.
