Dead Body Found in New Hanover Field

A woman's body was found Wednesday morning by a local farmer

Montgomery County detectives and the New Hanover Police Department are launching a joint invesitation into the death of an unidentified woman, whose body was discovered next to a cornfield in the Frederick section of New Hanover Township on Monday morning.

At 10:22 a.m., New Hanover Police responded to a report that a local farmer had discovered the body of a deceased white female at 2461 Little Road, near the intersection of Henninger Road. A press release from the district attorney's office describes the location as "a remote section of hedgerow adjacent to a cornfield."

According to a report by 6ABC, the property owner – identified as Mark Slater – stated that he and his daughter-in-law observed a tattoo on the body, and added that there were tire tracks in the field near the location of the body. An additional report by CBS3 adds that the deceased is "believed to be in her late teens or early 20s."

The cause of death is pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for later this evening, according to the Pottstown Mercury.
