Driver Remains in Critical Condition One Week Later

Benjamin J. Marchese, 47, crashed his vehicle in the late evening of March 8 on Troxel Road.

Benjamin J. Marchese, 47, of the 1500 block of Ivywood Way, Towamencin, remains in critical condition at Abington Hospital following an accident the evening of March 8 on Troxel Road.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Marchese was traveling southbound on Troxel Road, toward Sumneytown Pike, when he somehow lost control of his pickup truck, struck several mailboxes along the roadway, and struck a guiderail in front of Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The impact with the guiderail caused the pickup to overturn onto its roof, then its driver's side, traveling about 75 feet before coming to a rest back on its wheels near Carriage Way and a bridge transversing a creek next to the church.
