Driver Rescued in Two-Vehicle Accident

Intersection littered with debris after collision at Stump and Horsham roads in Montgomery Township

A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Stump and Horsham roads in Montgomery Township had traffic slowed to a crawl, as Unit 18 Rescue from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township worked to free one of the drivers.

At about 12:30 p.m., police and fire units were dispatched to the scene where a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee T-boned a Buick Enclave, directly in front of the township building.

The driver of the Buick was stuck inside the vehicle.  Members of Fire Department of Montgomery Township extricated the driver through the driver's side door.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Two witnesses, who were in the emergency pull-off lane of Horsham Road, stated that they heard a loud crash, and immediately called 9-1-1.  One witness stated that she believed both drivers were taken to the hospital, though Patch has not confirmed this.

It is not known which direction each vehicle was traveling, and the official statement from the Mongomery Township Police Department was that the accident "is still under investigation."  No further comment was provided.  A call to the Fire Department of Montgomery Township was unanswered.

The police cleared the scene of debris, and by 1:15 p.m., traffic had returned to normal and all lanes were open.

Stay tuned to the Lansdale Patch for more information as it becomes available.  Check out the photo gallery to see the damage to both vehicles.
