The police should be doing the job they are paid for, and looking out for intoxicated motorists on the roadways, not wasting time on these expensive, useless checkpoints that are nothing more than a way to harass and hassle the public.

The only people who have a problem with checkpoints are people who drink and drive. Solution=dont drink and drive.

I don't deal drugs from my house. I would have a problem with the police randomly showing up at my house to search for drugs - it's the same thing, with the added burden that we the public are funding these checkpoints. There is a higher rate of success in stopping drunk drivers by observing erratic behavior on the road than in stopping every motorist at these checkpoints. Furthermore, it's constitutional only if the local police do it - if this practice were done by federal entities, it would be unconstitutional. That right there should be reason enough to stop it.
